Ski Touring Courses

Scotland offers some remarkable ski touring opportunities. It takes patience, preparation, flexibility and an open mind; but when it is good it can be as good as anywhere. The focus is on searching out the best descents possible on the day, as well as helping you find the love for the climbs! When possible we will go on a ski-touring journey and discuss the skills on route. If the weather deteriorates the latter part of the day may become a skills session in sheltered terrain.

Ski Touring Journey Day

1 day course within 3 hours drive of the Central Belt.

The Journey days are an opportunity to join a small group of ski tourers and discover new terrain while covering ski touring skills along the way. We tailer the day to the needs of the group and will be in charge of the safety of the group and navigation, so you can relax and enjoy the tour.

If you can confidently ski a red run and have a decent level of fitness it is possible to learn (or refresh) ski touring skills on a mountain journey. The key skills are covered while on the move.

No under 15’s and children between 15 - 18 can attend if accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Zero to Hero!

British Backcountry and Snowsport Scotland have pioneered a "Zero to Hero" fast track learn to ski tour course for anyone (even beginners) who wants to get involved. We teach basic ski technique with a view to using it to safely descent mellow slopes while on a ski tour. The latter part of the course is a ski touring taster session to show you just what is possible on skis. Check out the video to see how the pilot course went.
